The Guild of Church Musicians
GCM Statement – September 2022
Our attention has been drawn to media reports that have implied some connection between the Guild of Church Musicians and cases of historic sexual abuse. The Council of the Guild, at its most recent meeting, renewed its unswerving commitment to the very highest standards of care for all with whom we are in contact: our members, candidates for Guild awards, and the churches and cathedrals that we serve. Our safeguarding policy is reviewed and renewed annually. We do not believe that any action on our part, or failure to act, has put anyone at risk either within or beyond the Guild. At this time, when so many cases of abuse have come to light, it is understandable and right that anxiety is heightened. We are seeking to respond sensitively, carefully and appropriately to all who work with us and those who turn to us for help.
The Guild was formed in 1888 and exists to encourage all musicians within the Church to attain the highest standards of music in the worship of Almighty God. Membership is open to anyone interested in church music and whilst the majority of members live in the UK the Guild has members living in all parts of the world.
There is a separate branch of The Guild in Australia.

Membership
We are now able to offer immediate membership when purchasing online. There are two types of membership - Digital £25.00 and Print £35.00. For Digital you will receive digital copies via email of our Laudate magazine, for Print you will continue to receive printed copies of the magazine by post.
Membership runs from January 1st to December 31st.
